Class and Lesson February 17, 2013
(I tried another format for recording - wma- to save space but the quality is terrible , Sorry-  Back to mp3 from now on.) Reatha began class by reading from the Stephen Ministry Booklet a piece which included a poem about white snow by a 7 year old. She also mentioned Linda's article which including her great neice learning about free will. William recently had a fall and cut to his head, according to Linda Christopher.Bob L told of Anne's fall  recently and her pelvis was broken in two places. She spent Mon to Friday in the hospital. Expect 6-8 weeks minimum in rest and rehabilitation. Have plenty of food now. Bob said they appreciated the ccards and prayers and food. Grace also suffered a fall recently. Working on  Care Team for Dottie, need to like dogs.Reatha then filled in for Susan Mobley who was rain-bound in her Rock Hill home, and she did a preview of the Proverbs study we begin next week. During the session we learned that knowledge was know a tomato is a fruit  and knowing not to use it in a fruit salad was wisdom.

Class and Lesson   February 10, 2013
Reatha began class with a reading from the bulletin used at the funeral of Madeline Stanford the previous day about God being around us in many ways.. Reminded us of Leighton Ford the next (Monday) night, Pancake Dinner Tuesday, Ash Wednesday two services, and work on Flood Buckets. Mary Katherine mentioned the Steven Ministry booklets being distributed around the church, and Reatha recognized that Linda and Mary Katherine had write ups in it. Anne L noted the Sadris presence and  that the write up of son John was on the Bulletin Board. Durward spoke of the 3/3/2013 Spaghetti Dinner 12:15 J. It was decided to do in Jubilee hall instead of the classroom. We were glad to see Erman Bradley back as a visitor from the Wesley Class. Don Hammer did a session on Mental Health. Susan Mobley scheduled for next week.

Class and Lesson by Chick:   February 3, 2013

Reatha led the class and read a devotional. Anne L reported that Dottie Tobias is staying at home for time being instead of moving to an Assisted Care facility as reported last week; a relative is available to help. We noted that Madelyn Stanford passed away last week. The service is Saturday 2 p.m. February 9 in Francis Chapel. We were glad to see Tom Stenson back with us. Chick presented a discussion of a book on the fate of Movies. See and hear the full discussion on Youtube or hear the full class at links above.

20120223 Reatha Update

Dear Ownbey Family,I've been having email pblms today -- are those solar flares still messin' w/cyberspace? -- so this note is late again this week! And yest'y i was under-the-weather so much so that i never got around to emails...

Last Sunday . . . . SUSAN MOBLEY opted out of leading our lesson in the name of safety. She has rescheduled to teach us on May 5th

Tomorrow we will continue what the dozen or so of us who were able to make it to SS last week began: a study of the book of Proverbs. The book is HOW TO READ PROVERBS, and its author is Tremper Longman, III. If you get a chance, you might read thru chapters 1-9, our main focus for now. You might also BRING A BIBLE w/you to class tomorrow -- we had enough copies in the room for the few folks who came last week, but having your own copy will come in handy!

BOB reported that ANNE is resting at home, and that that's what she'll be doing for 6-8 weeks, at least. They are "honorary g'parents" for their n'hood, so right now, they are well-fixed for food, etc. Bob will let us know if/when they need anything else

I had the pleasure of sitting w/DOTTIE last Monday. As i think i mentioned before, her daughter (SISSY) and husband (MIKE ) will be moving in w/her in the next few months. We are still offering a Care Team, and that brings me to this: some of the former CT members are having to rotate off, so we need some NEW volunteers. The main purpose of this team is to offer fellowship w/Dottie and to relieve the schedule of the family and healthcare workers. If you think you can offer some time to visit every few weeks, please contact SUSAN MOBLEY, smobley@mpumc.org .
BTW: must love dogs Panko is a wonderful and wiggly Shih Tzu -- a grand companion to Dottie and a fast friend to anyone who gives her attention! She even "loves on me" altho' i smell like my two cats _^..^_

AND... don't forget: our annual SPAGHETTI luncheon will be NEXT Sunday, March 3d, after the 11:00 svc in J.Hall, $7/plate. If you can't get to class tomorrow and have yet to sign-up, contact DURWARD asap to get on the list and make arrangements to pay him! d As of two weeks ago, we had only 14 signed up -- however, i know that BETTY and RICHARD weren't on it, and they are coming as my guests, so there may be others.

Hope to see you tomorrow. Chancel Choir is debuting a new piece at ALL FOUR services!
Peace, Reatha - Sat - 6:45pm 2/23/2013 5:55 PM
