The Ownbey Sunday School Garden Party / Baxters' going away party was held at Brenny's Sunday and we had a tour of Winghaven. The first sounds are of Bob Lumadue reading a going away poem for the Baxters followed by Cal 's comments about the them. The Baxters are moving back their home from long ago in South Africa to be with one of their sons who runs a Guest House. The Video also is below.

I promised to send you directions.
You go down Selwyn toward Queens College. Go beyond Queens Road West and after a couple of streets turn right on Ridgewood. Winghaven is on the right half way down and Brenny is right beside it further down.

Several of you have asked about parking for our Garden Party this coming Sunday. I wrote to Brenny asking for suggestions, and here is his response. -------------------------------------------------------------- Reatha, Parking is not an issue and is available up and down Ridgewood and other side streets. Just don't park where it says you can't, like by hydrant, or in front of sign that says "don't park from here to corner" directly across from my house. It might be good just to have everyone park only on my side of the street so cars can get through more easily. They might have to walk a bit further, but not too far. Bren ___________________________________________ Remember, our party begins at 3:00 at Brenny and Karen's. Their address is 300 Ridgewood Ave, right beside Wing Haven. For those of you who were in SS Sunday, you heard Syd say that Harlan had called him Saturday, saying that he and his sons were up at Lake Junaluska. NOT THE CASE. [I saw Susan Mobley as we were both leaving church today.] As we know, Harlan has been VERY confused/disoriented since his fall the other month. Late yesterday, even with a caretaker in the house, he managed to get out and wander over to a neighbors. He was re-admitted to CMC last night.
David and Tim are now exploring "care" facility options.
I asked Susan if we could help in ANY way, and she said that PRAYERS are our only course right now -- prayers for Harlan and his health, and prayers for his sons as they struggle in finding the best resources to care for him.
ON ANOTHER NOTE:
Harriette announced Sunday that the Baxters are MOVING BACK TO SOUTH AFRICA! The Baxters were in class, and Gerald elaborated: the move is TEMPORARY, but when they DO move back to NC, they will MOVE TO DURHAM to be near their son.
So... we are going to have a BYE-BYE (GARDEN) PARTY for them on Saturday, MAY 16th. More info will follow but wanted you to mark your calendars now.
