James recently discussed his latest book, 40 Treasured Bible Verses: A Devotional . You really should have gone. Two sessions were held on 3/2/2011.

At a 10:30 a.m. session there was an intimate group in the Library. What a great chance to talk with James almost one on one and to hear his answers to our questions about the current book, why he writes books, what he hopes to convey in them, how he developed the current one, insights in  dealing with publishers, books he is working on now, Kindles, death of bookstores, and other issues.

Thanks to James for doing this and to Nancy Swonger and her Library Committee for arranging the session.

Books are available for sale in Goodness Gracious gift shop. Also copies are in the Library.

Sunday Schools are "typically banal . . "

It appears to me other programs at MPUMC are more important to him than Sunday School. I learned that the first year he came and as class president I invited him to a class Ownbey was having using his book. He indicated he would come by ("waltz into" ?), but he never showed. It was furtherer emphasized as there were more and more 9:45 other programs which I think conflict with the Church guidelines limiting the number of conflicts (the current statement in the 2006 Fall Sunday School Handbook is found at http://i.b5z.net/i/u/696924/i/adult_sunday_school_handbook_contents2.doc) . . . and we all know of the the cancellation of SS classes without our input, etc., etc. The link in first line of this email above will let you see the context of James' SS comments; he was critical of lots other things as well but did say some positive things about some church members.
