>>MPUMC response (below) to our questions about donating to the HH fund.
Highlights:
>Writing the check to MPUMC ensures that the donor will get an acknowledgement
from the church as a charitable donation.
>Put "Helping Hands Fund - name of honoree", in the memo line.
>The HH account is for Ownbey use only.  No other group in the church has access.
>The church can only write checks from the fund at the direction of Ownbey officer(s)
and those checks must be to an organization, not an individual.  Having said that, I believe
the church can write a check to Ownbey, and we, in turn, could write a check to an individual
as directed and approved by HH.

 Jim,
 >All checks should be payable to MPUMC with a note on the memo line in whose honor or memory the donation was made. You can add “Helping Hands Fund” (on Memo Line) if you like.
 >All memorials and honoraria made to the church are acknowledged by the church.
 >The HH account can only be disbursed upon request of the Ownbey Class by an officer of the class. Check requests should be made by using a check request form and placing it in my staff box. I will write the check.
>Important to note would be that checks cannot be made payable to an individual, they should be made payable to an organization, business, agency etc. because the donors gift is credited as a tax deductible donation.
>If checks are written directly to the Ownbey Class and deposited in the class account ( not the church’s) the donation would have to be acknowledged by the class. I would recommend that all donations be made to the church.
 >Hope this helps.Linda

 Linda:
 >We've gotten conflicting info on how to make out checks to our
SS class's (Ownbey) Helping Hands fund.
 1/  MPUMC - Ownbey
memo:  Helping Hands - name of honoree
 2/  MPUMC - Helping Hands
memo: Ownbey - name of honoree
 >Does it matter?  Is there a preferred method?
 >Do the honoree or their family get notified of the donation(s)?
>Also, is it true that Ownbey is the only group that has access
to those Helping Hands funds?

Thanks for your help. Jim
