MARY KATHERINE VASS will be presiding in January and leading us in many of the lessons.  We will be studying JAMES' book WORSHIPFUL, available in Goodness Gracious gift shop.  A more detailed list of lesson titles and leaders will be forthcoming.

We were surprised and pleased to have GARY ERICKSON (and ELLEN) join us in class today... after they dropped off daughter and g'son at the airport.  Gary looked well and joked that his back didn't hurt so much after they gave him morphine in the hospital!  He's learning to re-adjust his diet to be more "heart healthy."

Thanks to DONNA & DENNIS SAVELL for taking a casserole to BERT & TRUDY LAMPLEY last week.  They had a nice visit w/them both and report that Bert is doing well since his surgery (having lost 55(?) lbs) -- still having to watch what HE eats, but in great spirits!

We also began a sign-up sheet for helping w/ROOM IN THE INN.  Our dates are Jan 26-27, Fri night - Sat morn.
Consider helping in the following areas:
Overnight Hosts -- 7:30pm - 7am
Early Evening Hosts (room/bed prep) -- 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Dinner Prep/Serve -- 5:45pm - 7:30pm
Breakfast Prep/Serve -- 6:45am - 8:30am
Fri Van Driver (+ Guide) -- 5:25pm - 6:30pm
Sat Van Driver (+ Guide) -- 7:45am - 8:30am

Obit

Rebecca "Becky" Hunt Lumadue, 61, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

She was born on October 3, 1956 in Charlotte, NC, to Blanche Daniel Hunt and the late H. Ray Hunt. Becky was a loving wife, mother and friend, her greatest joy was her two sons, Kenny and Patrick. Becky grew up in Charlotte, moved with her family to Littleton, CO in 1990, where they resided for 25 years prior to moving back to North Carolina in 2015. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1974 and from Appalachian State University in 1978. She married her husband Scott on June 3, 1978. Becky taught middle school at Alexander Junior High for one year before going on to work in business at various firms in Charlotte. She leaves behind dear friends in Colorado and North Carolina. She participated in multiple Bible Studies over the years and was a Christian mentor to many. Her days were filled with laughter; she enjoyed cooking, traveling and gardening. Most recently, she cherished her time on the water with her Lake Norman Gang.

Dear SS Family,

I had suggested that you might call the LUMADUES for an update, but have found out that we should WAIT for another week or so before doing that.BOB called to say that they DID have news, and it WAS sad/bad, but it wasn't about ANNE (directly).

Their oldest, SCOTT (who now lives in Mooresville after many years in the Denver, CO, area) -- his wife BECKY suffered a heart attack yest'y (or Monday?) and died -- totally unexpected!  The "boys" were called in from Tx & -?-, and today they + Scott met with a funeral director in Mooresville.

Thanks SO much to BRONWYN & RICK GASKIN for hosting our holiday party last night.  Fun was had by all. [unfortunately BARBARA BARDEN nor i were able to attend... even tho' we had planned to]

And another BIG thanks to SHIRLEY BYRD for working w/Paperless Post in getting out a beautiful e-vite and response tool which made party planning much easier.

Shirley is also responsible for suggesting the great dvd series we are studying this month:  THE REDEMPTION OF SCROOGE, by Matt Rawle.  SUSAN SAYRS has been doing a wonderful job in leading us each week, too!
