Thankfully, my father returned home from CMC at noon today. He looks and feels much better and has eaten well today so it seems the ERCP was successful. Many thanks to class members for their cards and prayers.Lucia

My father continues to make good progress. He had an ERCP today to remove gallstones from his bile duct, and he seemed to be comfortable afterward. We'll find out in the morning when he will be able to return home. His doctor is hopeful this procedure will help him to be able to eat a more varied diet and enjoy his food more than he's been able to do over recent months -- and, importantly, avoid future hospitalizations for gallstone-related problems.

Hi Reatha
My father was hospitalized (CMC) on New Year's Day with another gall bladder attack. He had severe pancreatitis due to a blocked common bile duct. Fortunately, he is making good progress and it is unlikely he will have to undergo emergency surgery (as seemed probable on the 1st). He might have an ERCP this afternoon or tomorrow (tube down his throat to try to remove the gallstone) or he might just be sent home. I have postponed my return to London to help my parents for a few days. (John and Jack left as scheduled on Saturday night).
My father is alert and in a good humor, though getting hungry (which is a good sign!) I think it's best NOT to have visitors for now as we're not sure if/when he might be getting prepared for the ERCP. I will keep you posted.
