06/07/09 Garden / Baxters Going Away ( to South Africa) Partya
The Ownbey Sunday School Garden Party / Baxters' going away party was held at Brenny's Sunday and we had a tour of Winghaven. Click on the link below to go to Smugmug pictures and then on the first picture for a video slideshow with all the pictures. The first sounds are of Bob Lumadue reading a going away poem for the Baxters followed by Cal 's comments about the them. The Baxters are moving back their home from long ago in South Africa to be with one of their sons who runs a Guest House. The Video also is below.

I promised to send you directions.
You go down Selwyn toward Queens College. Go beyond Queens Road West and after a couple of streets turn right on Ridgewood. Winghaven is on the right half way down and Brenny is right beside it further down.

Several of you have asked about parking for our Garden Party this coming Sunday. I wrote to Brenny asking for suggestions, and here is his response. -------------------------------------------------------------- Reatha, Parking is not an issue and is available up and down Ridgewood and other side streets. Just don't park where it says you can't, like by hydrant, or in front of sign that says "don't park from here to corner" directly across from my house. It might be good just to have everyone park only on my side of the street so cars can get through more easily. They might have to walk a bit further, but not too far. Bren ___________________________________________ Remember, our party begins at 3:00 at Brenny and Karen's. Their address is 300 Ridgewood Ave, right beside Wing Haven. We have around 40 folks signed up to come. :-) Reatha - Wed - 8am

Dear Friends, (abbreviations edited by don) We have run into a snag with our proposed class Garden Party. Harriette has discovered that Saturday. May 16 is the same day as the Wing Haven Gala. They will be working on that, and it wouldn't be any fun for us to go around the garden then. So, she checked with them about having our Sunday School garden party and Wing Haven tour on the following Saturday (May 23), and that date is fine. [However, Memorial Day weekend is "observed" then, so that might affect some of our class.] Harriette then checked on Sunday June 7 -- that date is also OK with Wing Haven. So... I'd like to take a straw poll: which date works for you? Sat. May 23d? Sun. June 7th? Either one? Email and let me know. We will also discuss this on Sunday, but I'd like to have some numbers ready before then. And remember that we will also be "saying goodbye" to the Baxters, whichever date we choose. [I have already checked and either date is OK with them.] The party will be at Brenny and Karen Thompson's at 300 Ridgewood Avenue, next door to Wing Haven. We are planning for everyone to come at 3PM. Brenny is on the board and has access to the garden. [Harriette has cleared both dates w/Brenny as well.] Check your calendars and send me your straw vote. Thanks, Reatha - Wed - 10:30pm
