Class Merger Highlights
1.  Class Location - room 110 - we're NOT moving!
     * nice-sized room, good chairs/sound system, piano, hymnals, large bulletin board...
     * room will also be known as the Ownbey Room - Dr. Ownbey's portrait will remain; plaque will be hung...
2.  Class Name - Genesis
3.  Lesson Planning - we'll follow Genesis' lead:  they have one person per month who is charged w/lining up teachers/lessons.
Typically they follow a lesson study (over several weeks) or have stand-alone lessons.
***NOTE to Ownbey Teachers:  if you are willing to continue being a teacher, please let me know, so that i can provide them w/a viable list.
Or if anyone else who has NOT been a teacher in Ownbey and wishes to "step up," you can also contact me  :-)
4.  Marking attendance - our rolls should be combined soon, so simply look for your name on the computer list and mark your attendance like
we've been doing these past few months.
5.  Finances - we'll retain our Ownbey Helping Hands - Mary Katherine, Barbara, and their treasurer will work out the details.  [hopefully, we can
close out our First Citizen's acct to keep things simpler - we'll see]
6.  Sunday morning "routine" - not sure - we've not talked about this yet - shouldn't be a hassle, tho'...  [announcements, songs, etc...]
7.  Health & Happiness - for now, i'll keep up w/"Ownbey" folks - not sure about the greeting card signatures (another thing to iron out)

What else???
Oh, since we had only NINE (9) in class today, this merger is coming none too soon!!!

Speaking of class today, ACE recommends that you GOOGLE "A Common Word Between Us and You" -- an open letter from Oct 13, 2007, which was composed by Muslim leaders in response to something Pope Benedict XVI had written.  I did that right after class and found that Wikipedia has an overview, but there's a website  www.acommonword.com  which will provide more in-depth info -- you can also subscribe to their monthly newsletter -- something i bet DON HAMMER would have done (and maybe he did!)

Peace,
Reatha - Sun - noon

P>S>>  Our next two Sundays, spent remembering "all things Ownbey":  please be thinking about what you'd like to share -- write things down, email (or snail-mail) them to me (or to Barbara at the church), round up pictures and other things...  We're gonna try to make a Remembrance Book, if we can.  BOB LUMADUE is gonna work on a poem or two (and perhaps dig up some from the past).  Let's have fun w/this!!!

Dear Ownbey Family,
Here's the link to the article that ACE would like us to read before we come to class next Sunday  :-)
Even if you aren't able to attend the class, please take time to read this fascinating op-ed piece, penned by a rabbi.
Blessings, Reatha - Sun - 10:50am

LEGACY...  Exploring direction of our class
Dear Ownbey Family,
I'll be leading our lesson this week.  I've entitled it LEGACY...We'll be exploring in what direction our class
will be taking in the coming months. We’ve done this now for the past few years:
I sent out a survey, we discussed our future in various lesson times, we've chatted about it over meals at church
and elsewhere. You may recall that last year (2015) we had 11 of our members die, and as 2016 rolled in,
we were looking at 11 other members who had reached the "90+ Club" :-)
We have already lost a few members THIS year. Several leaders in our class have met w/Barbara about
some viable possibilities, which I will open for discussion this Sunday. I hope you can come, but if you can't,
I’ll be following up w/an email next week. Heard from MARTHA SADRI's daughter-in-law (ALLISON) that
Martha is not doing well.  She's been in the hospital recently and is now in the
healthcare unit at Carriage Club. Peace, Reatha - Fri - 12:15pm
