Please pay for the 18th lunch next week. Bob L mentioned usually the second Hymn was the “Prayer Hymn” in the class, and we sang Sweet Hour of Prayer.
Don H mentioned a suggestion that we refer back to the lessons from the previous week to see if any follow-up discussion. He thanked the class for Cards and words of friendship over the last few weeks. He led a lesson on the events of 2011 and how the world is connected.

Class Notes (Last Week 8/28/2011)
>Last Week (8/28/2011) Class started with a hymn and a prayer by Jack. He thanked all the volunteers in the class and asked us to be ready to volunteer when Ann Maxwell’s Nominating Committee talks to them later this year.  ---------------welcomed as visitor, came a couple years ago and we glad to see her. Linda Stephens was with us and welcomed.
>Reatha reported on  Bill Young son in-law died recently and obit in paper. Here is email from someone: Gena and Bob’s son-in-law, Bill Young, (husband of daughter Kim) died on Thursday, August 25.  An obituary is in today’s paper (Sunday).  There will be a memorial service for him on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:00 AM in the Francis Chapel of our church.  Visitation is Monday evening from 6:30-8:00 at Hankins and Whittington on East Blvd.  The Builders Class will be providing the family with lunch after the service at the home of Gena and Bob’s daughter Ellen.
>Carol Needy missing as had out patient surgery and medication was making her sleepy. Christina now hopping a little with help of walker , 9/14 gets . Don R reported the Gutherys are doing better and fine . Nancy had been in hospital 3 times last year but doing better as is he. Mentioned radio program about “loving them into possibilities,” asked about last week lesson follow up comments.  Linda said Betty Campbell called this week and to say how much missed every one, would . Reatha will get her for our Luncheon on the 18th. Lives near Freedom mall. Arlyene  commented on  the lesson last week from about God speaking to her and her experience upon the daughter’s death after she indicated her desire for quality life otherwise. Durward has 22 people signed up for lunch on the 18th and we need 25 and asked folks to sign up and pay or call him and confirm. The shuttle is working from 8:00 a/m from Myers Park Traditional, and still not much ridership from MPUMC, especially for early service. Another church now parking there and they had many more folks than we, and we might get bumped somewhere else so let’s use this service.
 >Cal Chesson led the class in studying Romans   Chapter 4 13 –25. The core verse was 4 13.  The lesson was from the Good News for God’s People Bible Series. The purpose of the lesson is “to help us recognize that  in response to God's grace that faith in God has priority over obedience to the law. There are no actions we  can perform,  no rituals we can perform that will influence God  to declare us righteous. It is a gift, not something earned.”  And with that, Cal said we could probably pack up and go home, though he addressed some  tough questions instead..
End of  Cal’s Lesson. . recently
