Creation

All:
The subject of an apparent discrepancy between the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts
of creation was raised in class and I was totally unable to address it.  Well, I've had
some time to do some research and  (drum roll) here is my response:
PROBLEM:  Gen. 1 declares that animals were created before humans but Gen. 2:19
seems to contradict this saying, "the Lord God formed every beast of the field... and
brought them to Adam to see what he would call them," implying that humans (Adam)
were created before animals.
SOLUTION:  Genesis 1 gives the ORDER of events; Genesis 2 provides more content
about the events.  Genesis 2 does not say animals were created after Adam, it merely
says that God caused them (previously created by God) to come before Adam for naming
Chapter 1 is about ORDER, and this verse in Ch 2 is about NAMING.
I hope this helps...... if you still want to discuss, feel free.
Actually, the more vexing question for me is not that the order is confusing, but
how in the world did Adam, on the first day of his creation, have time to name
all the animals in the world in just that one day?  It's not a stretch for me to
believe that God can do LOTS of things in "one day" but Adam? Oft times,
answering one questions brings about more...... Don't you love studying Scripture?
Any thoughts on that?

Nice job Sunday, you did a lot of work and it paid off with a good session . thanks
As for creation - I thought there were (at least) two versions based on Bible Classes and books.

I have not re read Google discussions. Long ago, I concluded I had no idea what position is correct or if it matters.

Guys:

On Monday, although it wasn't the subject of the lesson, we had a brief little
discussion about
Creation vs. Evolution and the prevailing opinion seemed to be that it was not
all that difficult
to believe in both, i.e. that God could, very well, have created the beginning
"stuff" but that
Chuck Darwin could also be right in that everything continues to "evolve".

Attached, in excel is a little comparison showing 20 differences between the two
positions. It
seems that once you thoroughly get into Darwin's theory (and what our schools
are teaching)
compared to what Scripture says, that the inescapable conclusion is that the two
positions are
in total conflict. In other words, if the Biblical account of Creation is true,
then evolution
cannot be and, likewise, if Darwin is correct then the Scriptures must be
wrong.....

What do you think? Worth discussing?......
